I am following up to check the status of the band's trip to Williamsburg. I know I sent a Quote and Per Person Bus Cost Chart for the Myers charter last week and I was curious to see where things stand. Please advise as soon as possible and let me know if you need us to make any changes / additions, or deletions; otherwise, as soon as I have your OK to proceed, I will prepare and mail your Group Leader Handbook. Thanks and I look forward to hearing from you soon! 8/23/11: > Rec'd response from Jacob - Hi Bryan, I’m still waiting to talk to one more company, but I do have a question for you. The company I spoke to the other day offered us a parade in Busch Gardens without an adjudication. He mentioned that the adjudication can cost a lot of money and the students really enjoy marching through the park. (Plus, there’s less travel to and from the adjudication site.) I want to talk to my seniors today to find out how important the adjudication is. It really doesn’t matter too much to me. Although adjudications are great learning experiences, the marching band season has long ended before the trip and we only have one inconsequential parade after…the adjudication doesn’t transfer well. Your thoughts? Is that something your company could arrange? Again, I’d need to find out how important it is to the kids before I let you know for sure. I was really impressed by everything that we spoke about in our meeting, and I’d really like to use your company, but I’m sure you understand my responsibility to find the best price. I will keep you in the loop. 8/23/11: > BJS replied - The Busch Gardens Parade is definitely something we do and yes, it will save you a considerable amount of money. As an educator, I am all for leaving out the "trophy factory" festivals, for they are high on price, but truly lacking when it comes to real educational value. Since we are here to do whatever you want, once you have had a chance to talk with your ensemble, let me know and we will proceed accordingly. In addition to a non-competitive parade in Busch, you may also want to consider a performance clinic. A concert band clinic, at The College of William & Mary for example, definitely adds educational value and fits better into your musical schedule at this time of year since the marching season has long passed. These usually run about 90-minutes and we can have the clinician work on the repertoire you currently have in your folder. Believe me, I understand in this economy how important price can be, so let me know where you need us to be and we will do all we can to get you there. As you have heard from several of your colleagues who have traveled with other companies in the past and have now traveled with CCIS for numerous trips, you will definitely not be disappointed! It was nearly unanimous that they’d prefer to do the Busch Gardens parade rather than the adjudication. Would you be able to get me some estimates on what that would save? 8/24/11: > BJS replied - Here are the revised rates deleting the Competition and replacing it with the Busch Parade. Please note, there is no longer a separate rate for students and adults since the festival has been removed and the differential in the original proposal was created due to the fact that the festival company charged a lower rate for the adults / non-performers. Quad = $279 Triple = $289 Double = $309 Single = $369. Since admission to Busch Gardens was originally included in the festival company package, we had to add park admission in; however, as you can see, by making this one change alone, we were able to save $46 per person. We can also make any other changes you ask for, just let me know if there is anything else you'd like to consider. Have you had a chance to make any decisions on the trip to Williamsburg? I know you were quite pleased with the revision we were able to present a little more than a week ago and I am happy to make any other changes you may require – just let me know. You mentioned that price is your biggest concern and I realize that many of the perks we include are not provided by the other companies. At CCIS we pride ourselves on the quality of our service and all that we provide. I can assure you, it will be the best group travel experience you and your group have ever had, and our “perks” are offered at no expense to you or your students. I know if you will give us the opportunity, as Bob Matchett (SVHS), Todd Stefan (NAHS), Mark Rogers (Moniteau), Matt Beresik (Highlands), and several of your other colleagues at Mt. Lebanon, Montour, Carlynton and other schools have done, you will never even consider traveling with another company! They are all that pleased and I know you and your parents will be too. As I explained when we met this Summer, at CCIS we make certain everything we propose to you is available when presented, for as a former director, I never liked using companies who listed their inclusions as pending availability. That being said, to be fair to both our other clients and our vendors, we are unable to hold reservations for several month without some type of commitment, so if you could please provide me with an update on where things stand, I can advise our vendors accordingly. Also, you have mentioned on several occasions that price is your number one concern. I understand that completely and would ask that if we are not your lowest price, please give me the opportunity to prepare a true apples to apples price based on whomever may have provided you with the lowest price. Since we do not pre-package our tours, but rather customize them for every group, when can do whatever you need, but in order to do this, I need to know exactly what another company is including (the hotel, the restaurants and thee menus, the charter company, attractions, comps, etc.).
