7/16/14:
>  BJS added to system following Hilary Patriok's call this morning during our Summer Sales Meeting. 
>  This is her new school after having traveled with us at Midpark HS for several years and then an ill fated bid for the Berea-Midpark HS Orchestra.
>  She met with the Boosters this AM and they are wanting to travel this year. It has been at least 4 yrs since the last trip. She believes they have done Atlanta, Chicago and Orlando in the past.
>  Principal is supporting the trip and he says they can miss 2 - 3 days of school.
>  This will be a combined Band & Orchestra trip. She is directing both.
>  She is thinking Orlando and I encouraged that.
>  Most likely Disney PAOS with a Band Parade & Stage Performance for the Orchestra.
>  We talked about a Friday afternoon departure with Sat - Mon in the parks and then arriving back at school late Tuesday afternoon / early evening.
>  Hilary is going to get with school on dates.
>  BJS sent Orlando tri-fold so her parents would have some idea of package rates and then I also mentioned $1,250 - $1,500 / day / bus.
>  KW to follow-up with Hilary next Wednesday to see if she has dates and approximate number of students and adults so we can begin work on her group's proposal.

7/16/14:

Hilary:
     It was great speaking with you this afternoon and to learn of your new position. The fact that your principal and boosters are all so supportive of the trip idea is also fabulous!
     Per our conversation, I have attached the Orlando Tri-Fold. This should give your boosters some idea of the various package rates. In addition to our discussion about a Friday departure, I would also mention that if you are able to travel between January 2, 2015 and the February 10, 2015, it will be some of the least crowded days in the parks all year. Not all groups can go at that time, but it does make for three very pleasant days in the resort.
     Kay Williams (234-855-7795) will follow up with you next Wednesday (7/23) to see if you have been able to secure dates and also get a ballpark number of students and adults who you think will be making the trip. Do not hesitate to contact her in the interim if you have any additional questions or concerns.
     Thanks again for thinking of CCIS. You are always such a pleasure to work with and I am delighted for you and your new position.

Heard from Hilary that their boosters/principal would like them to concentrate on a smaller trip for this year.  Thinking Atlanta or Chicago.  She asks if that was possible for festivals and of course I said yes.  
Any more input from you that I should tell her?   Then  I can get back to her regarding both cities.  I know Fitch Band has gone to Atlanta several times.

Kay:
I am not sure what you (they) mean by smaller trip.  Are they thinking smaller = less expensive, or just closer. . . Remember, just because something is closer does not necessarily mean it will be less expensive.  Transportation could be less, but everything else is comparable (hotels, food, attractions, etc.). The overall duration of the trip could make it less. As an example, they could do Chicago in a weekend (3d/2n), while Atlanta and Orlando would both have to be trips of a longer duration.

Based on the two you suggested, I would recommend Chicago.  Atlanta is nearly twice the distance and would be a bigger (longer) and therefore more expensive trip.

*Music in the Parks would be the least expensive festival of all listed above. It is run by Festivals of Music and includes admission to Six Flags Great America in Gurnee, IL (north of Chicago).  The other festivals listed above would most likely include a dinner and show at Medieval Times since the amusement park is not open during the March & April dates.

Please share this info with Hilary for her decision and then advise me so we can proceed with her planning. Thanks!

Hi Hilary!
     I hope your new position is going well.  I missed seeing you at OMEA this year in Cleveland; although, the cold and wind seemed to keep many people away.
     I was working with one of our groups from the DC Metro Area on their Dixie Classic Festival Participation in Chicago earlier this month and happened to see that your group traveled to Atlanta at some point this Spring to participate in one of the Dixie Classic Festivals. I hope you had a great trip and all went well. I am not sure if your realize it or not, but we work with Dixie Classic Festivals, as well as all of the major festival companies, and would love to be able to help you, your colleagues, and your students with your next trip.  As a former client of CCIS, I know you are well aware of the detail, value, and high quality we provide.
     We have a new Account Executive in Ohio as of January 1, 2015, for Kay Williams retired at the end of December.
